Lasting Memories 200th Blog Hop Challenge: Buttons!

Hello and thanks for stopping by! We're hopping with celebration and excitement this week. Yep, we're having a blog hop in celebration of our 200th post at Lasting Memories! Our challenge? BUTTONS! We are looking for buttons, buttons everywhere on those layouts this week! Along the way, you'll see that some of us are offering a little candy on our blogs but you have to visit us to see who! We've also gotten a little creative with our buttons so we hope you'll be inspired! You should have arrived here from Darcy's blog, but if this is your first stop, please be sure to hop back to Lasting Memories to start the hop so you don't miss a thing! And don't forget to join each blog while you're there! Each of us has a letter for you to collect that will spell out two scrapbook themed words, so don't forget to jot down my letter which you'll see below. Once you've completed the hop, leave your answer in the comment section back at Lasting Memories. Comments will be moderated so there's no peeking! Then you have to enter your LO and guess what?! Our grand prize winner will receive a $25 gift certificate from A2Z Scrapbooking Store!! Awesome right?? Oh!! And one MORE thing! I'm also offering up some candy

Here is the prize up for grabs: 1 pack of Daily Flash Alpha stickers by October Afternoon, 1 Close to My Heart letter stamp set, 1 Close to My Heart mini stamp set, 1 6x6 Hey Kid paper pad by Echo Park, and 1 6x6 Meology paper pad from a Fancy Pants. Pretty awesome, right?

Here is what you need to do to be entered to win this prize pack: Post a comment below letting me know how you use buttons on your scrapbook pages, or how you might do so now that you've been inspired. That will get you one entry into the random drawing.

Want more entries? You can earn another entry by following my blog. Pretty simple, huh?

And....you can earn a third entry by creating a layout using buttons and entering it at Lasting Memories . If you do all three of those you have three chances to win!

Now, on to the layout!

Here was my sneak peak:

Now, time to reveal my complete layout!

To create my layout I used my CTMH Artbooking Cricut cartridge to cut out the circle overlay. Then I lightly drew the circles with a pencil on my base cardstock, using the overlay as a stencil. After that I began filling the circles on the cardstock with buttons and flowers. I filled the pinwheel circles with patterned paper which I adhered directly to the back of the overlay. Once I was done with that I pop dotted the back and laid it in place. I love the window effect it created! I then added bits of paper to the base for accents, some Thickers for the title, and the pictures. I finished it off with some doodling, as usual.

I hope you enjoyed my inspiration layout. You can try this technique all over your page like I did, or just create a small accent with buttons in a "window". Have fun!

Your next stop is Toni's blog!! Please be sure to become a member of my blog before you go. And don't forget to jot down my letter which is Y.

Have fun and happy hopping!

  4. Hi Jackie, I've been dying to see your layout ever since you showed us the sneak peek!! Wow... you're such a clever chickie - this is stunning! I don't have a cricut or any kind of cutting machine, but this layout makes me wish I did. I'm going to figure out a way of doing something similar and try this technique. You rock!!!

    1. Thank you Karen! I rarely remember to use my Cricut, but when I do I always remind myself to use it more! You can get the same effect using circle cutters. I've done that before too.

    1. Carmen, no shame at all. I use buttons in a variety of ways, including adding twine and sticking them down. They are very versatile. The fun thing is learning new ways to use them. :)
