Oh Boy - Sketchy Boards Challenge

I am so excited about this layout! I won the honor of being a guest designer for Sketchy Boards Challenge and I was thrilled to get the opportunity. Heidi supplied me with an amazing sketch and inspiration picture, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Here is the Sketch I was given:

Awesome, right? And here is the inspiration picture:

Right away that orange just popped out at me. I knew I had to use orange, yellow, and black on my layout. Love!

So, here is what I created:

I used a picture of my beautiful boy. I love, love, love my son! This picture makes me so happy. I chose a black and what picture so it wouldn't compete with the colors I wanted to use on the page. The minute I saw the sketch I remembered these great Tuesday Morning chipboard stars that I've had in my stash for years. I'm so glad I held on to them. They are perfect!

The background paper is from Bella Blvd. I loved the bold pattern on the dark color. To add some detail to the page I used a Jim Holtz stencil and Quick Quotes Powder Puff Ink in Blue Jeans. I pushed the ink into the stencil around the page. I adore the effect it made.

I love, love, love layers. I also love mixing patterned papers. So much fun! In this picture you can see all the wonderful layers of paper and ephemera. So much fun!

I had these large white cardstock alphas in my stash for awhile too. I love how the white stands out against all the patterns and bright colors. The 'oh' is from a pack of glitter Thickers that I've had in my stash as well. I think I used a lot of supplies that have been begging to be used on this page.

I used a gold Uniball Signo pen to create the circles on the page. They add a bit of detail without adding dimension. The tickets in the corner were just the color I wanted, but I didn't like the words on them. So, I simply turned them over and outlined the edges. They became the perfect place to do my quick journaling and to add an embellishment cluster.

I used pop-dots under the picture because it sat up on the star which had dimension. I also pop-dotted a couple accent stars for more dimension. Here you can also see that I outlined the large star with white faux stitching using a white Gelly Roll pen. I love doodling on my pages.

And finally, the "star" of the page (pun intended). These stars were plain, white chipboard when I pulled them out of the package. To create the wonderful colors, depth and shine and painted them with Twinkling H20s in Ginger Peach, Indian Copper, and Yellow Rose. I then used some Ultra Embossing Powder to create a nice, thick layer of shine on them. They turned out just the way I had hoped. Perfect!

Please join Sketchy Boards Challenge this month for this fun sketch challenge. I had a blast using it, and I'm sure you will do.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my layout as much I had enjoyed making it. Please take a moment and follow my blog. I'd love to have you join me! Thank you.

Trying Solid Foods

Good morning everyone. It's been a long time since I've done a two-page layout, so this one was a bit difficult for me to do. But, I found a great sketch by one of my favorite sketch designers, and I had way too many pictures to fit on a one-page layout, so I went for it.

I used a sketch from Scrap Much? that was designed by Laura Whitaker. I adore her sketches and just can't resist working with them. I used papers from my Noel Mignon kit for this page as well.

I covered chipboard stars in chalk ink, then used a Versa Mark stamp on them. I then sprinkled them with ultra-thick embossing powder and heated them up. They have great color and shine.

I'm a big fan of using multiple types of alphas on my layouts. I have plenty to choose from, that's for sure!

Isn't that face adorable?

These stars made perfect, simple accents.

I hope you enjoyed looking over my layout. I enjoy getting the chance to do a two-page layout once in awhile, but overall, I'm good with going back to one-pagers. It's difficult to make the pages flow the way I want. I like how this one turned out those. Please leave me your thoughts. Thanks!

Christmas Wreath

I'm having so much fun working in Christmas layouts! I've been using the Cable Knit kit from Noel Mignon, and having a great time. This layout is a simple page about my Christmas wreath. I loved that wreath! My son isn't too excited about this page because it isn't about people, but the page makes me happy.

I didn't use a sketch gir this layout. It just kind of happened organically. I love when that happens.

I just kept adding embellishments until I was happy with the look. I sprayed the wood veneer shapes with Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Bronzer. I love the stars on my porch wall, so I added wood and sequin stars to the page.

Isn't that a pretty wreath? I love all the layers under this picture.

I love that big, white button! And the quote card just needed to be on this page.

I hope you enjoyed my page. Please leave me some love and let me know what you think. Merry Christmas!

I Love Who You Are!

Hello everyone! This week's challenge from Lasting Memories Challenges is Anything Goes. That's right...create whatever you like! Sometimes those can be the hardest to do. I always love having a sketch or colors to boost my inspiration. And that didn't change for this project. I had so much fun making this layout! And, I used scraps to create it. What an awesome way to use up all those little bit of paper I have laying around.

My daughter is beautiful; she always has been. But beyond that, she is so much more. I absolutely love who she has become. She's nearly 20 now and really coming into the person she was meant to be. I'm loving watching her grow up.

To create this layout I used a free sketch from Scrapbook Generation's July 2014 CREATE magazine. I loved the idea of the strips of paper creating this background. I used their sketch and made it my own as well. Lots of fun!

I used October Afternoon Mini Market alphas for the title. Sometimes the little letters are just what is needed. The stars are Heidi Swapp embellishments. The flair and sequins were little things I had in my stash.

These strips of paper are so much fun! Inking all the edges was a bit messy, but it adds so much detail.

This large tag was left over from a kit from Noel Mignon. The papers come from that kit as well. I love the little bits of Washi tape as well.

Don't forget to head to Lasting Memories to take on this challenge. Play with your supplies and have fun!
I hope you enjoyed looking at my layout. Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
